As part of Latino Conservation Week, Renacer Foundation held an Environmental and Mental Health Retreat at Wekiwa Springs, bringing team members together for a day focused on wellness, reflection, and connection with nature.
The retreat provided an opportunity to step away from regular responsibilities and spend time outdoors while participating in activities centered on physical and mental well-being.
From guided stretching and reflection to walking the park’s trails and spending time at the spring, the day encouraged participants to slow down, reconnect as a team, and experience the benefits of being in a natural environment.

Beginning the Day With Movement and Reflection
The retreat began with stretching exercises designed to encourage movement, relaxation, and preparation for the activities ahead.
Participants also joined a talk led by Father Hoower Cajicá, which created a space for reflection on personal well-being, connection, and the importance of intentionally setting aside time to care for ourselves.
Together, these activities established the tone for a day centered on taking a break from daily routines and creating time for reflection.

Reconnecting With Nature
Wekiwa Springs provided the setting for the team to experience Central Florida’s natural environment firsthand.
Participants walked along the park’s trails, spent time surrounded by native vegetation, and had an opportunity to enjoy the spring.
The experience highlighted a simple but important message: spending time outdoors can create opportunities to disconnect from everyday distractions, move the body, and dedicate time to rest and personal well-being.

Strengthening Team Connection
The retreat was also an opportunity for Renacer team members to spend time together outside their regular work environment.
Walking, participating in activities, sharing conversations, and enjoying the park created a different setting for colleagues to connect and strengthen relationships across the organization.
These shared experiences complement the daily work carried out by Renacer staff across programs, outreach activities, education, and community services.

Wellness and Environmental Awareness
Holding the retreat during Latino Conservation Week also connected team wellness with environmental awareness.
The activities encouraged participants to appreciate the natural spaces available in Central Florida and reflect on the importance of caring for the places that provide opportunities for recreation, learning, and connection with nature.
Renacer Foundation thanks Latino Conservation Week and Hispanic Access Foundation for supporting initiatives that encourage people to spend time outdoors and recognize the value of protecting natural spaces.
The Environmental and Mental Health Retreat at Wekiwa Springs offered the Renacer team a meaningful opportunity to move, reflect, connect, and enjoy one of Central Florida’s natural spaces while reinforcing the importance of making wellness part of everyday life.
