Hunger Relief

Renacer prioritizes food security and nutrition as foundational social drivers of health in the communities we serve.
Our hunger relief work becomes a doorway: each event connects families to workforce development, community English, mental wellness support, HIV care, youth programs, and homeownership pathways under a single trauma-informed approach.
We operate Asistencia Alimentaria as our hunger relief initiative, serving families along the Orlando urban corridor and out to the rural boundary, including the agricultural communities at the edge of our service area, where linguistic isolation and other upstream drivers of poor health concentrate. Each event is a point of contact where families connect to our wider network of services, including workforce development, community English, mental wellness support, HIV care, youth programs, and homeownership pathways.
With the opening of our new corporate headquarters and new home for our community health practice in the East Orlando University area (32817), we will expand our operations there. Historically, we have supported the food pantry in Azalea Park (32807) through management infrastructure, our Voluntariado, financial contributions, and other in-kind support. In 2024, we served more than 8,500 pantry clients and distributed 80,237 pounds of food, including 12,120 pounds of meat and 3,750 pounds of rice, with support from 60 dedicated volunteers in Azalea Park. We offer culturally familiar foods such as pernil, ensuring that what we distribute is meaningful and used, and reducing waste in the process.
Our trauma-informed approach pairs immediate food support with year-round programming that addresses upstream drivers of food insecurity and supports self-sufficiency, economic mobility, and whole-person wellness. Our hunger relief work also includes summer feeding programs for school-age children. Through this hunger relief platform, we have helped families take their first steps into homeownership, supported residents in establishing small businesses, connected adults to workforce pathways and community English instruction, supported youth, and connected hundreds of individuals to wraparound services.

Our work has been recognized through a Spectrum News 13 feature in October 2024, profiling our partner pantry operation during the Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton response period, documenting the commitment of our volunteer corps to feeding families through the storm season.
Ana G. Méndez University partnered with us across our East Orlando hunger relief operation. The Smile Trust worked alongside us at the Azalea Park resilience hub. Hispanic Federation supported us across Central Florida and out to the rural boundary. The Farmworker Association of Florida, serving over 10,000 member families across five Florida locations, partnered with us alongside our work in agricultural communities. Farm Share Florida provided support for our September 27, 2025, drive-thru distribution.
Additional partners include Moses & Mary Christian Academy in Osceola County; Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, which provided support for our summer feeding work; Casa Venezuela, which provided support in the Tampa/Hillsborough response to Hurricane Milton; Abrigando Corazones INC; Todos tienen un corazón; Hi Kid Foundation; the Keira Grace Foundation for Children's Cancer; Feed and Fortify Community Organization, which has provided support in Azalea Park; the Orlando Center for Justice, Inc.
