Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost (U.S. House of Representatives - FL 10): Shared an engaging session on youth leadership, the power of community involvement, and making the voice of the next generation heard in Congress.

At Renacer Foundation, we firmly believe that the future of our region is built by equipping and empowering new generations today. During this edition of our Summer Youth Program, we were deeply proud to see 41 high school students choose to invest part of their summer learning how local government operates and how to exercise positive leadership within their communities.

One of the most impactful components of this experience was our Civic Education and Engagement (Civic Engagement Talks) module. Through this initiative, coordinated hand-in-hand with our strategic partner CareerSource Central Florida, we created a direct dialogue forum where participants interacted, reflected, and learned firsthand from key public service figures across Central Florida and the federal level.

Direct Dialogue with Local and Federal Leadership

To help our youth understand the scope of public administration and decision-making, we welcomed prominent government representatives from various levels of leadership to our facilities:

Commissioner Shaniqua Rose (City of Orlando - District 5): Engaged students on purposeful leadership, public service pathways, and the direct impact of municipal decisions on collective well-being.

Mayor Buddy Dyer (City of Orlando): Led an inspiring conversation on leading a rapidly growing city like Orlando, encouraging each participant to contribute actively to their community’s civic future.

Commissioner Mayra Uribe (Orange County - District 3): Focused on directing personal leadership toward authentic community service through her life experience in local policy.

Commissioner Maribel Gómez Cordero (Orange County - District 4): Highlighted perseverance, identity within decision-making spaces, and her journey representing local communities.

Commissioner Kelly Martinez (Orange County - District 5): Shared her leadership journey and public service experience in Orange County, highlighting the importance of community representation, teamwork, and inspiring new generations to get involved in local decision-making.

Commissioner Tony Ortiz (City of Orlando - District 2): Motivated youth through a discussion on discipline, continuous education, community service values, and work ethic.

Tom Keen(City of Orlando - District 1): Shared his perspective on discipline, the value of public service, and active engagement in local and state government to drive community development in Central Florida.

Real and Sustainable Impact for Our Youth

Witnessing our students ask thoughtful questions, address real-world community issues, and connect directly with diverse leaders proves that the vision of our Summer Youth Program has been fulfilled. Thanks to our ongoing partnership with CareerSource Central Florida, civic education has become a living tool for community empowerment and career readiness.

At Renacer Foundation, we reaffirm our commitment to delivering comprehensive development spaces for our youth. We will continue opening doors so that Central Florida’s young people not only dream of a better future but possess the knowledge and tools required to lead it.

The Legislative Branch, State, and Federal Outreach

Exploring how laws are crafted, how public budgets function, and how legislation directly influences education and economic growth included insights from legislative and federal liaison leaders:

State Representative Johanna López (Florida House of Representatives - District 43): Explained state government structure, the vital role of education in community progress, and active citizenship.

State Representative Rita Harris (Florida House of Representatives - District 44): Detailed the inner workings of Florida’s legislative branch, public education advocacy, and how passed legislation impacts career opportunities for youth.

State Representative Anna V. Eskamani (Florida House of Representatives - District 42): Inspired participants through her legislative journey, emphasizing grassroots advocacy, public transparency, and standing up for the rights of emerging generations.

Gary Berríos (Multicultural Outreach Director for U.S. Senator Rick Scott): Provided inspirational mentorship centered on resilience, inclusion, discipline, and reaching leadership positions at the federal level.

Kevin Kelly (Vice Chair of the Orange County Republican Party - Orange GOP): Delivered an educational session on local political mechanics, purposeful leadership, and civic responsibility.
